Spending Accounts
Note:Â Rocky View Schools (RVS) 2024 allocation deadlines differ from other school boards. Please visit the RVS spending account section of the FAQ web page for more information.
In the last week of August, you will receive an initial ASEBP email—to your work email account—about your spending/savings account options and allocation deadlines. To access your spending/savings account credits, you will need to create a My ASEBP account (your personal benefits portal). We have shared information about creating your My ASEBP account in our welcome email that was sent to your work email on August 19.
To gain a better understanding of your Health Spending Account (HSA) and Wellness Spending Account (WSA) credit allocation, coverage options, receipt, deadlines, and more, visit Spending Accounts.
Note: Starting 2025, your annual credit allocation deadline becomes August 31.
Teachers
If you are a teacher, you must allocate your credits between your Health Spending Account (HSA) and Wellness Spending Account (WSA), no later than November 30, 2024. If you miss the allocation deadline, your spending accounts credits will be deposited into your HSA account.
Other Education Workers (non-teaching)
Eligible non-teaching staff can allocate their spending account credits between an HSA, WSA, RRSP, and TFSA. You must allocate your credits no later than September 15, 2024. If you miss the allocation deadline, your spending accounts credits will be deposited into your HSA account.
On Leave
If you are introducing a baby to the family or taking a personal leave of absence for any other reason, you can choose to continue your ASEBP benefits while you’re on leave. Find more information about leave coverage.
Maternity/Parental or Personal Leave Pre-September 1
If you are on maternity/parental or personal leave pre-September 1, and are responsible for paying your benefit premiums, ASEBP will send you a "leave" package, in August, containing more information and steps to follow. You must return your completed leave package to ASEBP within 31 days of the date of your leave package letter to transition to ASEBP benefits.Â
Please note, you may experience a temporary interruption of coverage, between September 1 to the date ASEBP processes your leave package, where you are unable to access your ASEBP benefits and submit your claims. Rest assured that once your ASEBP benefits are in place, you will be able to submit claims for any eligible expenses that occur during this interruption of coverage.
Retirement benefits
We have benefits for your retirement, designed with you in mind! Learn how ASEBP’s MyRetiree Plan benefits can support you and your family throughout your retirement. To apply for MyRetiree Plan benefits, please download and complete this Rocky View Schools-specific application form. View a comparison of our plan to other plans.
Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance
If you previously had Life and AD&D insurance with ASEBP, and you are under 65 years of age, this insurance is mandatory and is 2x your pre-retirement employer salary. You benefit from retaining a group rate and are encouraged to visit our MyRetiree Plan site and request a quote for premium calculations.
If you have never had Life and AD&D insurance with ASEBP, are under 65 years of age, and apply for ASEBP's MyRetiree Plan on or after September 1, you will receive a minimum of $25,000 for Life and AD&D insurance.
Supplemental benefits
The Supplemental package is meant to provide benefits to you and your family if you’re a substitute teacher, casual employee, part-time employee, employee serving a waiting period for your employer benefits, or a working retiree not eligible to participate in benefits as an employee. Click the Benefits tab to find information about ASEBP's Supplemental Package.
