National Indigenous Peoples Day

Jun. 21, 2021

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day and, on behalf of ASEBP, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the past, present, and future contributions of Indigenous peoples in Alberta and Canada, as well as their rich heritage and culture. We also want to recognize the impacts that colonization has had and still has on Indigenous peoples.

Navigating Through Change

Jun. 14, 2021

Many of us have an idea of the path we want our lives to take—landing our first 'adult' job, moving into our own home, welcoming a baby (some with two legs, some with four), preparing for retirement and expanding our worldly knowledge.

Looking Toward Our Future

Jun. 4, 2021

Every few years, our Trustees and leadership come together to define the strategic direction of ASEBP. As a result of this collaborative work, we’re happy to share an overview of our new strategic plan, which will inform the work we undertake now, in 2021, all the way through to 2025.

Our strategic plan will help to ensure our continued success in improving the health and quality of life of our covered members, while ensuring the efficiency and long-term sustainability of our benefits plan.

Honouring Lives Lost

Trigger Warning: Residential Schools/Child Death

The remains of 215 children were recently discovered at a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia. This news is a devastating reminder that the trauma inflicted by residential schools is still experienced by survivors, descendants of survivors, and the families of those who never came home.

Your Spring Silver Lining

May. 19, 2021

As the pandemic persists, putting pressure on us as individuals, families, and communities, it can feel a little overwhelming at times. We understand that there are lots of responsibilities on your plate and, with stricter lockdowns, it brings added concern and pressure with it too. Know that we’ve always got your back to support you, and that’s especially the case right now. Since spring’s always a time of refreshment and rejuvenation, we’d like to highlight a few ways to support your overall health and wellness, whether that’s at in-person appointments or remotely.

Connect, Click and Learn

May. 11, 2021

As part of our ongoing efforts to increase conversations and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, we’re launching our brand-new It Takes a Village website where you’ll have access to a wide range of tools and support systems to help you thrive during difficult times.

We Asked, and you Delivered!

May. 10, 2021

Our 2021 Client Satisfaction Survey has come to a close and we can’t thank you enough for sharing your feedback with us. At a time when there are so many competing demands for your attention, we truly appreciate you making space for us.

When we first started working on this survey, we had hoped to receive enough responses so that the data gathered could be translatable across our covered member population. Well, you didn’t disappoint—we had over 12,500 covered members respond to our survey.

Final 2020-21 Planner Survey Open

May. 11, 2021

Congrats to the last batch of winners from our 2020-21 ASEBP Calendar & Health Planner survey. Earlier this year we selected and contacted our January winners but don’t fret if you didn’t win this time around—you still have one more chance!

Education Week

May. 3, 2021

Education Week, which runs from May 3-7, is an opportunity for us to recognize the thousands of individuals employed in the public education sector who make a difference in the lives of Alberta children every day. Whether they are teachers, administrative staff, bus drivers, or custodians, they all play an important role in helping students across the province learn and grow.

Debuting our Annual Report

Apr. 23, 2021

We’re proud to share that our 2019-20 Annual Report, themed around finding strength in uncertain times, is ready for the world to view. We decided to try something new for our Annual Report this year: moving to a completely digital format.

At ASEBP, putting people first means making the commitment to support and promote the well-being of everyone we connect with, whether they’re our employees, covered members, employer groups or the community at large and this past year was no exception.
