Phishing campaign targeting ASEBP covered members

ASEBP received notice that a phishing attempt is being made on covered members. This phishing campaign is being carried out by a bad actor that is not affiliated with ASEBP in any way.

The subject of these emails is related to benefits being suspended with an urgent message for recipients to click an “activate” button or their account will be terminated. These emails are using a false and misspelled ASEBP logo and originating from an email address that does not end in “@asebp.ca.”

Please use anti-fraud best practices in responding to any and all emails. If a phishing message contains links that you clicked and shared personal information through, you should change your password immediately and contact your IT department.

If you have concerns or questions about your ASEBP account, please contact a benefit specialist at benefits@asebp.ca or call toll free at 1-877-431-4786.

If You Go Off Work for Health Reasons

Dec. 3, 2024

If you have ever had to go on sick leave due to illness or injury, you know this experience can be overwhelming and happen when you least expect it.

Therefore, starting January 1, 2025, ASEBP will offer to connect you with medical specialists, therapeutic practitioners, and other community support services during your sick leave, to support your recovery and return to work. As part of this new offering, ASEBP will also work with your employer and health care providers to help you ease back into a work routine based on medical accommodations.

Open to all group plan members, including individuals over age 65 with ASEBP's income replacement benefits.

How ASEBP Can Help

If you go on a sick leave of absence, you can expect ASEBP to call you in the first few weeks of your leave, to ask if you require support. Some of the services available to you include:

  • Referrals to medical specialists
  • Requests for medical tests and occupational assessments
  • Approval of additional funds for therapeutic treatments (beyond your annual extended health care coverage)
  • Referral to mental health or substance use services
  • Coordination of a gradual return to work and other medically based accommodation requests with your employer.

If your health condition is more complex, ASEBP will guide you through the Extended Disability Benefits application process.

What Happens if I Get Sick or Injured During Winter Break?

Please inform your employer right away and do not wait until you are expected back at work in January. Your employer will let ASEBP know that you are on a sick leave of absence.

More Information to Come

ASEBP will share more information about new sick leave supports available to group plan members in January 2025. Stay in-the-know on the latest ASEBP benefit news and updates by following ASEBP on Facebook or Instagram
