School's Out for the Summer

  • ASEBP News
Jun. 29, 2023

It is hard to believe that another school year has already wrapped up! As students move onto new chapters, education workers look ahead to summer vacation, and administration officials place the final touches on one year and plan for the next, let us take a moment to reflect on everything the year brought.

One of my favourite things to do to mark moments of change throughout the year is to think of what I accomplished and ask myself a few questions, such as:

  • What opportunities did I seize?
  • Which challenges was I able to overcome?
  • What was helpful and what hindered me as I worked through the year?
  • How can I apply my learnings going forward?
  • What goals do I want to set for myself, personally and professionally, for the coming months?

No matter what the school year looked like, I find these questions can really help me process the year, be proud of my accomplishments, and be better equipped for all types of situations that may arise in the future. Give it a try yourself and see what you think!

Please remember to stay in touch with ASEBP over the summer by following us on Facebook and Twitter—we will be sharing helpful reminders, benefit tips, deadlines, wellness content, and more. If you need to contact us for any reason, including in the unfortunate case of suffering an illness or injury, the contact centre will be operating its summer hours in July and August, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

As the temperatures rise, I hope you have the opportunity to relax, recharge, and do things that make you happy. Thank you for all that you did for our students, your coworkers, and the greater Alberta school community this year!

Sincerely,

Kelli Littlechilds
