Putting the YOU Back in the Yuletide!

Dec. 6, 2023

The holiday season is here, and while it is known as the happiest time of the year, it can be easy to forget to take a little ‘me time’. So, before you get too swept up in the hustle and bustle, we want to remind you that your ASEBP Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) has some wonderfully supportive content and services to help you take care of your well-being this holiday season.

Self-Directed Support

Have you checked out the Inkblot Wellness Hub? The site offers a wide range of health and well-being content aimed at supporting you at your own pace. With articles and videos available, you’re sure to find content that resonates. Here are some of the holiday-focused well-being content the site offers:

Want more? Simply visit the Inkblot Wellness Hub and search “holiday” (or any other topic). The site is also available in French

Digging a Little Deeper

If you need extra support this time of year—maybe you’re dealing with a recent loss or are feeling lonely because you’re unable to be with friends or family—your EFAP can help. Through the program’s individual counselling services, you can take a quick online assessment and match with a certified counsellor who can help you work through emotions and provide evidence-based solutions and support.

Remember, your EFAP provides four free hours of individual counselling each year, so if you haven’t used all your 2023 hours yet, there’s still time. If you’re running low on hours or have already used them up, not to worry, you can continue seeing an EFAP counsellor at below-industry rates and submit your receipts to your ASEBP psychology and counselling benefits for reimbursement. Learn more about how this works in this brochure

In addition to counselling, you can also utilize some of the services available through your EFAP’s Work, Health and Life Services program. For example, if you’re a recent empty-nester or have recently become a new parent, the support offered through the Life Transition service may be of great help.

Annual EFAP Hours Reset

Don’t forget, every January 1, your free hourly EFAP allotments reset. That means, in the new year you will once again have four hours of:

And, a fresh set of unlimited hours, in 30-minute appointments, for legal and financial advice

With all these supports, and your everyday benefits from ASEBP, there’s no reason why you can’t take a little down time this holiday season to make sure you’re taking care of yourself while taking care of others. Happy celebrating!
