Don't Delay, Submit Today!

  • Upcoming Deadline
Oct. 26, 2020

If you have a Health Spending Account (HSA) or Wellness Spending Account (WSA)—or both—then we have a reminder for you!

You have until October 30 to submit claims for any spending account expenses incurred prior to August 31 for the 2019-20 plan year, which ran from September 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020. Receipts for WSA expenses (if required) also need to be submitted by October 30.

Why October 30, and what happens after that date?

HSAs and WSAs have a 60-day run-off period, which is why you have until October 30 to submit claims for spending account expenses incurred prior to August 31.

Once the run-off period has ended, here’s what will happen:

  1. You will no longer be able to submit expenses for the 2019-20 plan year, as those expenses can’t be carried forward into subsequent years.
  2. Any unused credits in your HSA or WSA will be carried forward for one plan year (they’ll show up in your account in November once the run-off period has ended). If you haven’t used credits from the 2019-20 plan year by August 31, 2021, however, they’ll be forfeited back to your employer.

To submit spending account claims or check your credit balances, simply log in to My ASEBP or check out the My ASEBP Mobile App. Visit Spending Accounts for more information.

Note that if you recently retired or were on a temporary contract, your deadline is 60 days from your last day of employment.
