Communications Advisor/Coordinator

Position Summary

ASEBP is looking for an individual with Communications experience to join our dynamic Communications Services team in Edmonton. The successful candidate will be a generalist who is strategic, creative, and innovative. Someone who loves not only coming up with unique and effective campaigns, but also problem-solving, bringing new ideas to the team, supporting and enhancing our engagement with our covered members, and helping to drive the organization forward. You understand the importance of analytics and have your finger on the pulse of best practices and the ever-changing world of communications. Having a strong knowledge and proficiency with G4A, SEOs, Adobe Analytics, and Google Analytics is a plus. Must have experience in social media, media monitoring, engagement, and issues management. 

As a member of the Communications team, you will work in a portfolio structure where you can build relationships with your client area, while also supporting your peers when needed. You are adept at communicating to a variety of different audiences and target markets. You are also comfortable working in a busy hybrid work environment with varying deadlines and adhering to the ASEBP brand. 

Our ideal candidate has three to seven years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing or related discipline, has a keen attention to detail, understands the changing role of communications, and loves to help create positive change in the workplace.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational communications support to n assigned portfolio area that supports ASEBP’s strategic plan and department initiatives.
  • Draft and develop communications strategies and plans for campaigns, projects, and initiatives while adhering to ASEBP’s brand.
  • Draft and develop a variety of communications materials including but not limited to:  campaigns, briefing notes, key messages, video scripts, reports, presentations, correspondence, articles, ad copy, internet and intranet copy,
  • Contribute to ASEBP's digital properties, ensuring communication integrity and positive user experiences that drive audience engagement. 
  • Support with G4A, SEO, and analytics that help ensure our message is reaching the intended audience. 
  • Collaborate and coordinate with communications colleagues in creating effective communication products and ensuring a strong and consistent voice in all communications materials.
  • Utilize communications planning, social media, and clear communications to advance the organization’s strategic and operational goals. 
  • Assist in the planning and execution of events, when necessary.
  • Provide critical thinking for innovative solutions to complex issues or challenges.
  • Proactively identify campaigns ideas to address business needs. 
  • Work with a variety of external vendors, contractors and suppliers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Education and Experience

  • A degree or diploma in communications, public relations or related discipline.
  • Three to seven years of demonstrated experience working in a communications role.
  • Membership with IABC or CPRS and/or IAP2 is an asset.
  • Fluent in both French and English is an asset.
  • Experience working with the public health sector and/or benefit industry would be an asset.

Your Abilities

  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and storytelling experience for a variety of audiences through multiple delivery channels.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills that enable you to work as well independently as you do on a team.
  • Experience developing, implementing and evaluating comprehensive strategic communications plans that tie back to business objectives.
  • Proven ability to work with graphic designers
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and provide strategic communications advice to all organizational levels.
  • Knowledgeable in engagement principles and execution
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with demonstrated strength in organizing workflow and priorities to meet business and client needs.
  • Experience leading communication initiatives as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including leading meetings and public speaking.
  • Fluency with a variety of web CMS, digital properties (e.g. Google Analytics, G4A, SEOs, MailChimp, Alchemer, Canva).
  • Capacity to create and edit design files and images using the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • An ability to communicate complex ideas in simple and compelling ways.  
     

Unique Working Conditions

You will be working with groups across the province, so some travel may be required in this role. This position is eligible to participate in the hybrid workforce program.
