ASEBP has been made aware that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has launched a nationwide strike in response to recent federal government changes to Canada Post’s delivery standards and rural office operations. The strike began in the evening of September 25, 2025, and is expected to impact all provinces within 24 hours.
What This Means for ASEBP Covered Members
ASEBP remains committed to ensuring covered members continue to receive uninterrupted access to their benefits and reimbursements. To avoid any disruption caused by the postal strike, covered members are strongly encouraged to register for My ASEBP with their personal emails and set up electronic banking immediately.
During the Canada Post Strike, ASEBP Will:
- Hold all letter mail and cheques until the strike ends.
- Contact covered members directly with any urgent notifications.
- Courier cheques more than $1,000 to covered members receiving Extended Disability Benefits. Covered members will need to contact their case manager or adjudicator to confirm courier arrangements.
No action is needed for covered members already registered for My ASEBP and electronic banking. You will continue to receive claim reimbursements and benefits information online without disruption.
If You Currently Rely on Paper Mail or Cheques:
You will experience a disruption in service. To ensure continued access to benefits:
- Register for My ASEBP using a personal email address.
- Add your banking information to My ASEBP under My Profile, to receive reimbursements directly.
- Contact ASEBP to have mail forwarded via email.
- Contact ASEBP to have mail forwarded via email.
