With a new school year just starting, it can feel a bit like January in some ways—celebrating a full year of possibilities and new opportunities ahead. So why not treat it that way by renewing your commitment to your well-being.

Some covered members have a Health Spending Account (HSA) while others have both an HSA and a Wellness Spending Account (WSA) (as determined by your employer), both of which are very useful supplements to a benefit plan. But it can be a bit confusing to know what you can claim, when you need to submit claims and allocate your spending account credits, and where and how to make a claim.  

Each calendar year, your ASEBP Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provides you with four sponsored hours (free of charge) of individual counselling and an additional four hours of couples counselling. These hours reset every January. But sometimes an issue will take more than your sponsored hours to address or something new and unexpected may happen after you’ve already used all your sponsored hours. Not to worry, there are options available.

Many covered members have more than one benefit plan and coordinate them to maximize their coverage. This process, called Coordination of Benefits (COB), is standard practice for benefit providers.  

Although Fraud Prevention Month (March) is over, fraud never stops. 

As part of ASEBP’s commitment to promoting education about benefits fraud and abuse, we are excited to announce a social media contest for covered members. The goal of this contest is to raise awareness about the importance of being able to spot benefits fraud and abuse and know how to protect yourself from it, so it doesn’t happen to you.

You may even think, what do my finances even have to do with my wellness? Turns out, quite a bit! Fraud Prevention Month is here. What do you know about benefits fraud and abuse?  

As a covered member it is more important than ever to be aware of the risks of benefits fraud to help protect yourself and your loved ones. 

On February 1, 2023, our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provider, Inkblot, will start offering a new program to covered members and dependants (18 years of age and older) with our EFAP.

Now that winter break is behind us and we are settling back into our regular routines, we want to remind you of some great services available to you through your new Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)—you may recall we launched the new program back in December. 

December is here, and that means so is your new Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)! Through our partnership with Inkblot, we are pleased to offer you this new program, which better aligns with and complements our other benefit offerings, like psychology services.
