Wildfire Evacuation Support

  • ASEBP News
Jul. 26, 2024

ASEBP recognizes the devastating impacts wildfires have on our communities, education workers, and covered members. Our hearts go out to all who have been affected and ASEBP is here to support you and your loved ones.

If you have questions about your benefits, please send us an email at benefits@asebp.ca or call us toll free at 1-877-431-4545. You can also use our online booking tool to schedule a video meeting or a call back.

Additional Free Health Supports

If your employer offers ASEBP’s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), Inkblot by GreenShield is available 24 hours a day. Virtual counselling support is available free of cost to you and your dependants, and EFAP can also connect you to health care specialists, such as registered nurses and chronic disease coaches, legal and financial experts, and more.

Our wellness website, It Takes a Village, is an information hub for other mental health supports provided by organizations like the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Prescription Medication

Pharmacies across Alberta are ready to assist those who do not have their required medication(s) or enough of them due to evacuation. Please visit the nearest pharmacy and explain your situation. Pharmacists will assess your needs and consult with your primary pharmacist and/or health care provider, when possible, to confirm your prescription.

For all other benefit related support needs please contact ASEBP directly at benefits@asebp.ca or call us toll free at 1-877-431-4545.

Monitoring Air Quality

Deteriorating air quality can have negative effects on your health. Check air quality indexes in your area and reduce time spent outdoors when pollution levels are high. If you must go outside, consider wearing a mask, such as N95 or KN95, which have better filtration capabilities. Keep your indoor air safe by keeping windows and doors closed, running air conditioning on a recirculate setting, or using an air purifier*.

As a member of ASEBP, our commitment to you extends beyond our benefit offerings. If we can help you and your family during this difficult time, please contact our office toll free at 1-877-431-4545.

*Please note: air purifiers are not covered under ASEBP’s Extended Health Care respiratory equipment coverage, and only eligible for reimbursement through your Health Spending Account with a prescription as per the Canada Revenue Agency’s list of eligible medical expenses.
