Supporting You While on Sick Leave

Jan. 6, 2025

ASEBP is thrilled to offer sick leave support that focuses on connecting you with health care and treatment services, as well as providing return-to-work planning and coordination with your employer.

The aim is to help you access medical specialists and therapeutic providers, then work with your employer and health care providers to help you ease back into a work routine based on medical accommodations.

As part of this new offering, ASEBP can:

  • Provide referrals to medical specialists
  • Request medical tests and occupational assessments
  • Approve additional funds for therapeutic treatments (in some circumstances, if you have ASEBP’s extended healthcare benefits)
  • Connect you to mental health, substance use, or other community-based services
  • Coordinate a gradual return to work and other medically based accommodation requests with your employer, while keeping your health information private.

Sick leave support is available at no cost to group plan members, including individuals over 65 with ASEBP’s income replacement benefits. This support is intended to help members with their recovery and return to work. It is not a paid benefit.

How ASEBP Can Help

Your employer will advise ASEBP if you are away from work for more than 14 days due to illness or injury. You can expect to receive an email from ASEBP about the type of support available to you, and how to request immediate assistance. ASEBP will also follow up with you by phone in the first few weeks of your leave to ask if you require support with your recovery.
