ASEBP is deeply saddened by the devastating events in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia on February 10. The heartbreaking loss of life and injuries at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School have left many across Canada mourning, and it is a painful reminder of how deeply connected our education communities are. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those impacted by this tragedy.

ASEBP recognizes how profoundly an event like this can impact emotional well-being, even for those not directly involved. ASEBP would like to remind all covered members and their families that support is available.

  • Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provides free, confidential services, including four free hours of counselling per calendar year for covered members and four free hours for each dependant. More information is available at asebp.ca/efap.
  • Through GreenShield Cares, Canadians can access three free hours of culturally appropriate virtual mental health support. Navigate to https://app.greenshieldplus.ca/en/sign-up/org-code?ref=TR and follow these steps to register. Use the organization code GSCARES3. 
  • Crisis support is also available through GreenShield+ 24/7 toll-free, by calling 1-833-707-4747.
  • Psychology benefits are also available through Extended Health Care (EHC) for both covered members and dependants. Learn more about psychology counselling on asebp.ca.
