Retirement Incentive for Teachers and Employees (RITE)

ASEBP’s Retirement Incentive for Teachers and Employees (RITE) program offers a one-time financial incentive to eligible teachers and education sector workers receiving Extended Disability Benefits (EDB) to help you finish your career and retire with peace of mind.

Important Dates

  • June 2: RSVP for ASEBP’s virtual RITE presentation and submit your questions in advance.
  • June 19: Attend the virtual RITE presentation.
  • June 20: Deadline to contact ASEBP’s legal services coordinator or email RITE@asebp.ca if you do not want ASEBP to notify your employer about your RITE offer.
  • September 2, at 4:30 p.m.: Deadline to return your signed RITE application form to ASEBP.
  • November 21, at 4:30 p.m.: Deadline to return your signed legal agreement to ASEBP. You are responsible for ensuring that the individual witnessing your signature on the agreement swears the Affidavit of Execution before a Commissioner of Oaths (or Notary Public, if outside Alberta).
  • December 31: Your EDB claim will close on this date if you choose to accept your RITE offer.
  • January 1, 2026: Your new MyRetiree Plan benefits (single or family) commence and renew annually on this date (if applicable). Remember to log into My ASEBP and print your new ID card.
  • January 31, 2026: ASEBP will deposit your lump-sum RITE payment on or before this date. Please note that payments may be withheld past this date if you do not provide ASEBP with an updated Personal Income Statement and financial documentation, when requested.

Please note that if you decide to decline your RITE offer, your EDB claim will continue according to ASEBP’s existing policy provisions. You will not be eligible for future RITE offers.
